Bury St Edmunds
The town of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk should be on your England travel radar.
It is a quaint, adorable town only an hour drive from Cambridge and a 1.5 hours drive from London.
The town itself has so much to offer including the smallest pub in England, quaint laneways, the amazing Abbey Gardens and Moyse’s Hall Museum with a book bound in convict’s skin and even a death mask.

Ely
Around a 30-minute drive from Cambridge and a 1.5 hour drive from London you will find another underrated town in England, Ely.
Like Bury St Edmunds, Ely is a really cute town with so much to offer.
Ely is most famous for being the home of Oliver Cromwell who lived in Ely from 1638 to 1646. You can take a guided audio tour of his house, which no surprise is the most popular activity in the city.
Other awesome things to do in Ely include visit England’s 3rd longest cathedral, Ely Cathedral, Almonry Gardens, St Marys Church and St Thomas Parsons Square.

Thetford
If you remember the old TV show Dad’s Army, you might like to consider a visit to the little town of Thetford where the TV show was filmed.
It is a cute little town with a lot to do including The Dad’s Army Museum, the stunning Thetford riverbank, St Mary’s Church (which was used for the opening scenes of Dad’s Army) and the Thetford Priory Ruins.
Thetford is located only around a 2-hour drive from London.

Glasgow
Most people think of visiting Edinburgh when venturing up to Scotland but the city of Glasgow is also worth a visit.
Glasgow is also a lot more affordable than Edinburgh so your money will go a lot further there, especially for the cost of accommodation.
There is also a lot of interesting things to do in Glasgow including visiting the Glasgow University, the inspiration for Hogwarts, and the Necropolis, a very interesting graveyard where over 50,000 Scottish people are buried including some of Scotland’s most prominent people.

Castle Combe
If you are looking for an instagrammable photo in one of the cutest towns in England than consider making a visit to Castle Combe.
Castle Combe is located 5 miles northwest of Chippenham in one of the prettiest areas of England, the Cotswolds. It has even been credited as the prettiest town in the Cotswolds so it is perfect for photography.
Castle Combe has been used as the backdrop of many films including Stardust and War Horse.
Castle Combe also has one of the oldest clocks still in use at St Andrew’s Church.
